Getting Dunked and Giving Back

If you read our blog, you know about LeaseTeam from the outside. You know what we do, what we make and who we are in the industry. But do you really know who we are? How we’re like a community within the walls of the company?

I would imagine the answer is “no” for most, and since my role here is “people”, I wanted to share about what makes LeaseTeam such a special place to work.

Two of these things are our culture and the people that build it. We believe in working hard for our customers and for our company. We believe in a good work-life balance (because family is important!) and in taking care of one another, because we are each other’s family, too. We believe in giving back to the community. And we believe that work can still be fun.

Recently, we were able to tie all of those beliefs together by holding a fun employee event to raise money for a local charity that has touched the lives of those within our LeaseTeam family. Our “Dunk Your Manager” event let employees enjoy some great BBQ and then have the opportunity to pay to dunk different members of the management team, with all the proceeds going to Ted E. Bear Hollow.

Some of you might not know about Ted E. Bear Hollow, so let me enlighten you! Since 2001, Ted E. Bear Hollow has been a welcoming, safe place where grieving children, teens and adults find hope. As the region’s cornerstone for bereavement support, Ted E. Bear Hollow provides free peer support programs, as well as training, education and consultation throughout Nebraska and Iowa.

We selected the Ted E. Bear Hollow organization because it has touched the lives of a couple of the families here at LeaseTeam in recent years and we know from those employees that they are an amazing group of people. They dedicate their lives to helping children and their families find a new happy and a new normal after the loss of a family member, and they help mend little hearts each and every day. This was our way to thank them for their work and give back, so that they can continue to spread their message and help more children and families find hope again.

Needless to say, we had a great turnout for the event. Our employees raised $1,140 for a great charity, and with the company matching those donations, we were able to present a check today to Ted E. Bear Hollow for $2,280!

We had a LOT of fun dunking one another (that water was cold!), and on top of that, we were able to help a fantastic organization. That’s the LeaseTeam way!
